Named scholarships & funds
When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, The University of Akron is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of °µºÚ±¬ÁÏ alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.
If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The University of Akron, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Future Zip Confirmation Fee Award
Being accepted into The University of Akron is a milestone to be celebrated and the first step to becoming a future Zip. The next step is confirming enrollment by paying the confirmation fee. For some, this out-of-pocket expense presents such a financial hardship that they are unable to pay it, delaying or bringing to an end their dream of achieving a college degree.
Recognizing this need, The University of Akron created The Future Zip Confirmation Fee Award to help students for whom paying this confirmation fee is a financial hardship preventing them from enrolling at the University of Akron.
The Future Zip Confirmation Fee Award supports students who have been granted admission to The University of Akron, have demonstrated financial need and have expressed hardship in paying the confirmation fee. Selected students can have up to the full amount of the University’s confirmation fee, which at present is $145, applied to their student account to satisfy the fee requirement. Selection of recipients will be at the discretion of either the Office of Student Accounts/Bursar, the Office of New Student Orientation or the Office of Financial Aid.
