Antro, John and Catherine Endowed Scholarship
The John and Catherine Antro Endowed Scholarship was established in February 2024 by John C. Antro in memory of his parents, John and Catherine, who were influential on his life. After graduating from The University of Akron in 1969, Mr. Antro taught art, graphic design, and photography for more than 30 years in the Akron Public School system. Following his retirement from teaching in 2000, he founded John C. Antro Interiors, an interior and exterior design company where he helped clients maximize the potential of their spaces with careful planning and a keen eye for color.
By establishing The John and Catherine Antro Endowed Scholarship through a generous estate gift, Mr. Antro hopes to support generations of students who are interested in becoming an artist or art teacher.
The John and Catherine Antro Endowed Scholarship was established as part of We Rise Together, the Campaign for The University of Akron.
The John and Catherine Antro Endowed Scholarship shall be awarded to University of Akron students enrolled in the Mary Schiller Myers School of Art and pursuing a degree in the visual arts. Scholarship award decisions will be made by the University Scholarship Committee in the Office of Student Financial Aid. The number of recipients and scholarship amounts will be determined as funds are available.
