Wraithwood Award

The Wraithwood Award was established in 2020 by two Mary Schiller Myers School of Art students, Alex Vetrick and Sid Burgan, who wish to honor the importance and growing necessity of new media applications in design, and to recognize The University of Akron’s 150th Sesquicentennial Anniversary.

Alex Vetrick is a 2020 graduate of The University of Akron. Mr. Vetrick greatly appreciated the opportunities that the Myers School of Art allowed him in the diversity of projects and exploration of new medium technologies.

Sid Burgan, a Dayton native, graduated from The University of Akron in 2019. Ms. Burgan deeply values the education and mentorship she received at the Myers School of Art, as well as the camaraderie and integrity of its students.

The purpose of this award is to honor the spirit, curiosity, and courage it takes to try something new.

The Wraithwood Award will be awarded at the end of the spring term to an upcoming junior or senior student skilled in the fields of new media, (augmented reality, virtual reality, 3D animation, 3D design, and motion design). The student receiving this award should have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.

Mary Schiller Myers School of Art faculty specializing in new media and members of the school’s scholarship committee will select the recipient.  Awards will be reported as taxable income to the recipient.
