Weigand, Rose Mary Endowed Scholarship
The Rose Mary Weigand Endowed Scholarship was created in 2017 through a pledged bequest directed to The University of Akron Foundation. Ms. Weigand, a native of Barberton Ohio, received her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from The University of Akron in 1972, and her master’s degree in business administration from Baldwin Wallace College in 1978. Her career goals covered a wide range of business-related work experiences throughout northeast Ohio. Ms. Weigand was most proud of her position as Senior Director of Human Resources at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. After her retirement from the Clinic in 2006, Ms. Weigand began working part-time at The University of Akron’s Department of Human Resources and enjoyed that job immensely for many years.
The Rose Mary Weigand Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to full-time undergraduate students with a 3.0 (or better) GPA enrolled in a STEM or healthcare program. Applicants must also exhibit enthusiasm and commitment to education and community service. Financial need and family responsibilities are also important considerations. The scholarship, which may include assistance with emergency situations, is intended to relieve a portion of the financial hardship of students working and paying their own way while completing their degrees. Administration of the scholarship will be determined by °µºÚ±¬ÁÏ’s Office of Student Financial Aid.
