Greenwald, Robert J. and Richard M. Scholarship for the Editor of The Buchtelite

Twins Robert J. and Richard M. Greenwald were born December 20, 1916. Both are 1939 graduates of The University of Akron with B.S.B.A. degrees in business administration. Their activities at the University included Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Sigma Alpha, and co-editing The Buchtelite. The twins were listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. The Greenwalds also have master's degrees from New York University.

Robert J. Greenwald ran for student body president during his senior year. His platform included better football seats and the need to join an athletic conference. He is a retired U.S. Army Colonel who gives great credit to the experience he gained as the editor of The Buchtelite. It was because of this experience that he was based in London during World War II and met his wife.

Richard M. Greenwald has won several awards in his community, such as the 1989 Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce Community Involvement Award and the 1990 Hermosa Beach Business of the Year Award.

Robert and Richard Greenwald understand the importance of The Buchtelite standing as a quality publication. As former editors of The Buchtelite, they captivated the spirit of Akron and produced a publication of lasting value. It is because of this understanding and this achievement that the twin brothers have established The Robert J. and Richard M. Greenwald Scholarship for the Editor of The Buchtelite. The fund supports a competitive, merit-based student scholarship covering tuition and room and board for the editor of The Buchtelite.
