Gelin, Margaret T. and Bruce R. Scholarship
Margaret Tucker Gelin grew up in Akron, Ohio, and is a graduate of Buchtel High School. Her parents also grew up in Akron and both attended The University of Akron during the Great Depression. Her father, Charles S. Tucker Jr., graduated in 1935, but her mother, Julia Christine Harrington, was unable to complete college due to lack of funds. Their daughter, Margaret, and her husband, Bruce R. Gelin, have established this scholarship in the interest of providing deserving students with financial assistance in completing their college educations.

Students must have a 3.0 or better GPA at the University and must maintain this standard to remain eligible for the Gelin Award. Preference will be given to students in the arts and sciences, education, engineering, and health professions. Scholarship award recipients will be determined by the Scholarship Committee of the University of Akron.
