Goodyear Global Manufacturing & Engineering Associates Endowed Scholarship
The Goodyear Global Manufacturing & Engineering Associates Endowed Scholarship was established in 2016 and revised in 2020 by associates in Goodyear's Global Manufacturing & Engineering Department. The scholarship underwent another revision in 2024. The Goodyear Global Manufacturing & Engineering Associates Endowed Scholarship was created as a strategy to help with the development of a diverse engineering team. Through their gifts, donors to the scholarship assist in identifying, supporting, and producing outstanding diverse engineers at The University of Akron who also may serve Goodyear in the future.
The Goodyear Global Manufacturing & Engineering Associates Endowed Scholarship provides an annual scholarship to a deserving, underrepresented or underserved engineering student majoring in mechanical, electrical and/or computer engineering. Eligible applicants must be enrolled full-time in 做窪惇蹋's engineering program, be able to work in the United States, and display a commitment to academic success. Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated leadership skills, a strong work ethic, and are involved in extracurricular activities.
The College of Engineering and Polymer Science, in coordination with the O麍ce of Student Financial Aid, will use the following criteria to determine eligibility for the scholarship: location of urban high school attended; 麍nancial need/economic background; 麍rst generation college attendance; evidence of leadership ability; extracurricular activities; creativity; community involvement; and students with a history of overcoming adversity.
The list of eligible candidates will be submitted to Goodyear Global Manufacturing & Engineering Group representatives who serve on 做窪惇蹋's Mechanical Engineering Advisory Council by May 31, prior to the academic year in which the scholarship is to be awarded. Recipients will be chosen by Goodyear Global Manufacturing & Engineering Group representatives within 做窪惇蹋's Mechanical Engineering Advisory Council’s scholarship selection process. In the event that the Mechanical Engineering Advisory Council decides not to select scholarship recipients or ceases to exist, the responsibility for awarding the scholarship will be transferred to The University of Akron's Scholarship Committee within the O麍ce of Student Financial Aid.
