Lancaster, Emmer M. Scholarship
Established in 1978 by Emmer M. Lancaster, the first Black graduate of The University of Akron, the endowed Emmer M. Lancaster Scholarship was adopted by the Black Alumni Association in 1986 to provide financial assistance to deserving Black high school seniors and/or undergraduate students attending The University of Akron. This award shall be presented to black students demonstrating academic excellence, with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, leadership skills, and commitment to community service. Recipients are selected by the Office of Minority Affairs in consultation with members of the Executive Committee of the Black Alumni Association, with scholarship amounts to be determined.
