Lampasone, John C., Class of 1939, Scholarship Fund
When John Lampasone was about to graduate from The University of Akron, there were few positions available for students with physical disabilities. John had been an exceptional student and then-University president Hezzelton E. Simmons took it upon himself to call on the president of Ohio Edison and intervene on John’s behalf. John was hired, and his exemplary professional accomplishments led to Ohio Edison becoming one of the most active employers of individuals with special disabilities.
The John C. Lampasone, Class of 1939, Scholarship Fund was established with a gift from the estate of Mr. John C. Lampsone, class of 1939. Mr. Lampasone wished to offer his financial assistance for students with special disabilities. His life and career have been spent in assisting people in the Akron community. The John C. Lampasone, Class of 1939, Scholarship Fund will perpetuate this lifelong commitment.
