Graduate African Students Fund
The Graduate African Students Fund was initiated in 2014 by Dr. Chris Opoku-Agyeman. While serving as an adjunct professor at the Department of Business Technology and Management Studies, Dr. Opoku-Agyeman saw strong financial need exhibited by international students arriving from Africa.
The goal of this fund is to provide needy African students with the opportunity to access financial support from The University of Akron through a fund provided by external donors from across the country.
Funds contributed to The Graduate African Students Fund will be awarded to graduate students in need who meet the fund criteria. Potential candidates must be natural citizens of Africa enrolled as full-time graduate students at The University of Akron with a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Fund dollars may be used to support assistantships, tuition, fees, books, housing and meal plans.
Applications will be reviewed by a permanent committee chaired by Dr. Raymond Cox Ill and Dr. Chris Opoku-Agyeman.
