Curley, Dr. Mark H. Scholarship Fund

The Dr. Mark H. Curley Scholarship Fund was established as a tribute to the work and distinguished career of Dr. Mark Curley. An assistant professor of English as a second language, and of management, Curley teaches at the Centre d’études collégiales à Chibougamau du Cégep de St-Félicien Chibougamau in Québec, Canada.

A native of Montreal, Curley is an accomplished academician who holds a Master of Arts in political science from The University of Akron; an MBA, MLRHR and a Ph.D. in urban education from Cleveland State University; and a Bachelor of Arts from Baldwin-Wallace University.

Curley crafted a distinguished 30-year career as a KeyBank executive, holding posts including manager of international money transfer, branch administrative officer and private banking officer. Curley also held teaching posts at both Chancellor (formerly Myers University) and Kent State universities.

A lifelong, classically trained student of the piano, Curley has dedicated his life to improving the lives of others. His wide range of community service includes serving as an officer of PIANO "Cleveland International Piano Competition;" vice president of the Alliance Française de Cleveland; and director of the Maison Française Fund, a philanthropic affiliation for French language education and Franco-American cultural activity.

The Dr. Mark H. Curley Scholarship(s) are awarded to full-time University of Akron students majoring in political science with demonstrated financial need and academic success. The scholarship recipient(s) will be selected by The University of Akron Scholarship Committee.
