Reinherr, Charles M. and Eleanor M. Endowed Scholarship in The George W. Daverio School of Accountancy

The Charles M. and Eleanor M. Reinherr Endowed Scholarship in The George W. Daverio School of Accountancy at The University of Akron was created in 2006 with a gift from the Reinherr's good friends, Mr. and Mrs. William E. Loeb.

Mr. Reinherr was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and lived in the Akron area most of his adult life. He retired from the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. as an Accountant/Controller on July 1, 1971 with 41 years-10 months service. Mr. Reinherr was extremely active in the community. He was a charter member (1937- 38), president (1948-49) and Emeritus Life Associate of the Akron Chapter of J.M.A., the Institute of Management Accountants, (formerly called the National Association of Cost Accountants and National Association of Accountants), and a charter member of the Accountants Investment Club of the Akron Chapter. He was also a member of the Stuart Cameron McLeod Society, an honorary membership consisting of current and past national directors of the Accounting Society and a stamp collector. In pursuit of his stamp collecting passion, Mr. Reinherr served as the president of the Rubber City Stamp Club, Inc.

An avid investor in the stock market, Mr. Reinherr believed in being fully invested at all times. In this regard, it was through his participation in the Accountant's Investment Club of the Akron Chapter that Mr. Reinherr met Mr. William E. Loeb and where a longstanding friendship based on mutual respect and interests began between Bill and Charlie. To honor his friends' life and legacy and that of Mr. Reinherr's wife, Eleanor, Mr. Loeb established the Charles M. and Eleanor M. Reinherr Endowed Scholarship in The George W. Daverio School of Accountancy at The University of Akron. According to Mr. Loeb, "If Charlie were alive today, he would highly recommend investing in young people, especially those students studying accounting. He was just like that. He cared deeply about the accounting profession and its future."

The Charles M. and Eleanor M. Reinherr Scholarship was established to provide tuition assistance for full-time undergraduate students at The University of Akron majoring in accounting. Recipients of the Reinherr Scholarship, must present financial need and be on the Dean's List.
