Snider, Larry D./Caroline J. Pardee Endowed Fund for Percussion
The Larry D. Snider/Caroline J. Pardee Endowed Fund for Percussion is established in memory of University benefactor Miss Caroline J. Pardee to honor Dr. Larry D. Snider, founder of The University of Akron Steel Drum Band. Dr. Snider’s thoughtful nurturing of Caroline Pardee enriched her life for many years, and Caroline’s love of the Steel Drum Band gave her great pleasure. She was the first benefactor of the Band and its students and was a regular contributor throughout her life.
Income from the fund is restricted to support for the Steel Drum Band Program of The University of Akron’s School of Music as determined by the faculty director of the Steel Drum Band. If there is no Steel Drum Band program or faculty director thereof, the income may be used for other percussion studies as determined by the faculty member in charge of percussion studies. Funds may be used for any purpose deemed appropriate by Dr. Snider or his successor(s), including student and faculty travel, equipment and music, compositions, guest artists, scholarships, and recruitment. The corpus of the fund is to be protected as an endowment, with only earnings spent as recommended by The University of Akron Foundation.
The University of Akron’s School of Music and College of Fine and Applied Arts will make it known that the fund welcomes additional gifts.
