Dicheva, Stanka Graduate Assistantship in Engineering
The Stanka Dicheva Graduate Assistantship in Engineering was established in 2023 by Kiril 0. Stoynov ('08) to support international students serving as graduate assistants in the College of Engineering and Polymer Science at The University of Akron (°µºÚ±¬ÁÏ) with the goal of recruiting and retaining diverse talent to the College. The fund is named after Mr. Stoynov's grandmother, Stanka Dicheva.
Mr. Stoynov received his Master of Science in Computational Electromagnetics and Antenna Theory from °µºÚ±¬ÁÏ in the summer of 2008 as an international student. During his time as a student, Mr. Stoynov was a teaching assistant to Dr. Nathan Ida, a Distinguished Professor at The University of Akron in the field of Electromagnetics and Electronics. This assistantship allowed Mr. Stoynov to come to the United States to develop his interests in this field and pursue his graduate studies.
The Stanka Dicheva Graduate Assistantship in Engineering shall be awarded to a candidate who meets the following criteria:
- The student must be a graduate student pursuing a degree in the College of Engineering and Polymer Science, with preference given to a student pursuing a degree in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
- The student must be an international student.
Selection of recipients for the assistantship and the amount awarded shall be at the discretion of the Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering with the approval of the Dean of the College of Engineering and Polymer Science. To the extent that sufficient funding is available, a recipient could apply for the assistantship again in subsequent years.
