Williams, Thomas B. P. Scholarship

The Thomas B. P. Williams Scholarship is funded by a generous bequest from Mr. Thomas B. P. Williams, who was born in Newlyn, England, at the turn of the century. He moved to Akron in 1921 and worked at the Seiberling Rubber Co. before joining the postal service. Serving there until his retirement in 1970, Mr. Williams was instrumental in organizing the Postal Employees Credit Union and also was active in the American Association of Retired Persons. In 1980 Mr. Williams developed an avid interest in painting, which he pursued for many years. His paintings were well-received at numerous showings. Mr. Williams enjoyed the company of many friends at Rockynol Apartments, where he lived in his final years. Selection of award recipients is to be made by the Office of Student Financial Aid.
