Opportunity Fair promotes student success, belonging and community

°µºÚ±¬ÁÏ students at the CEPS Opportunity Fair.

On October 6, the Zips Engineered for Success (ZEFS) program in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in partnership with the Retention Working Group in the College of Engineering and Polymer Science (CEPS) hosted the 2nd annual Opportunity Fair. The event was open to all majors and over 200 students were in attendance.

On-site were CEPS representatives from nine research labs, 20 student organizations and design teams, the advising center, the Co-op and Placement Program, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and CEPS graduate programs, along with representatives from the School of Law, the College of Business and The University of Akron (°µºÚ±¬ÁÏ) Research Foundation.

The Opportunity Fair provided students a chance to:

  • Connect with student design teams and organizations,
  • Meet faculty and student researchers who offer undergraduate research opportunities,
  • Discuss graduate study programs with representatives from the CEPS Graduate Program, Law School, and MBA Program,
  • Discover minors and certificate programs available to enhance their academic journeys,
  • Navigate career options with the Co-op and Placement Program,
  • Uncover entrepreneurship prospects through The University of Akron Research Foundation, and
  • Delve into personal and professional development with the CEPS Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

Special thanks to colleagues from the School of Law, College of Business and The University of Akron Research Foundation for their attendance and support,” said Dr. Julie Zhao, a member of the CEPS Retention Working Group. “This event is intentional to engage students in high-impact practices that help enhance their °µºÚ±¬ÁÏ experience and create a sense of belonging and community. We look forward to connecting with even more students next year."
