Zips Esports upgrades gaming and streaming equipment thanks to new partnerships
The Zips Esports program at The University of Akron is introducing new gaming equipment to its three spaces across campus thanks to new partnerships with California-based Corsair Gaming and its Elgato brand.
Corsair Gaming will be providing 90 surround gaming headsets, gaming keyboards, gaming mouses and mousepads. The spaces will also be outfitted with streaming hardware/technology products by Elgato, including two 4K Cam Links, mounts, phone grips, ring lights and stream decks.
The partnership also provides licenses for Elgato’s EpocCam hardware, which allows users to stream footage from their phones over Wi-Fi as to provide additional angles during live stream events.
The partnerships validate Zips Esports as one of the top collegiate programs in the country, says Nate Meeker, director of esports at °µºÚ±¬ÁÏ.
“Being the first collegiate partner for Corsair and Elgato says a lot about the program that we have built here at Akron,” says Meeker. “I am very proud that we have been able to build this relationship for our students that use our facilities on a daily basis. Using Corsair and Elgato in our spaces will undoubtably give our varsity teams, club teams and recreational players a top-quality experience.”
Corsair and Elgato will be recognized in the physical spaces on campus, on team jerseys, in social media and on Twitch during the live competition streams. These partnerships, which will continue for three years, impact gaming machines housed in the esports arena in InfoCision Stadium, the esports center in the Jean Hower Taber Student Union designated for various esports club teams, and a recreational gaming café attached to the Williams Honors College.
